President Bola Tinubu has officially extended his congratulations to the victors of the Saturday elections held across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, and Rivers states.
In a statement released Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President characterized the successful polls as a vital reinforcement of Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutional integrity.
The electoral exercise, overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), covered all six area councils within the FCT.
It also included critical by-elections for the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State, alongside the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State.
President Tinubu emphasized that the newly elected officials must approach their roles with a deep sense of humility and patriotism.
He reminded the winners that their mandates represent a sacred trust from the electorate, necessitating a dedicated focus on public service over partisan interests.
The President specifically highlighted the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing recent successes to the party’s national and regional leadership.
Notably, he praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, citing his remarkable achievements in the FCT as a primary driver for the political dividends harvested by the governing party during the polls.
Beyond the winners, the President commended the conduct of the voters, security agencies, and INEC for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
He noted that the courage and discipline shown by contestants from all parties enrich the nation’s democratic vibrancy through healthy competition.
While celebrating the success of the process, President Tinubu also directed a call to action toward INEC.
He urged the commission to remain steadfast in refining its methodologies, aiming for even more exemplary and transparent electoral processes in future cycles.
