African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that President Tinubu defeated him at the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries because he listened to late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking on a radio show, Amaechi said Buhari promised to give him the ticket and urged him not to campaign.
“The reason Tinubu won the APC presidential primary in 2022 was because I made a mistake by listening to late President Buhari. Buhari told me not to campaign and that he was going to announce me as his candidate. He told me that and put it in writing.”
“Buhari said that to me, he is my boss, and two, if he announces anybody, that is a plus for me.”
“Because I didn’t do deals, Tinubu had the chance. Tinubu played on religion, and I will never play religious politics,” he said.
