Tinubu condoles Amaechi over loss of mother

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condoled former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, over the passing of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
The President made his condolences known on Friday in a statement issued on his behalf by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
The late matriarch departed peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
Reacting to the loss, President Tinubu acknowledged the deceased’s deep commitment to her Catholic faith, her exemplary devotion to family values, and her absolute dedication to raising children who have dedicated their lives to public service.
He noted that the late matriarch’s life beautifully reflected the virtues of love, sacrifice, kindness, and perseverance—qualities that deeply endeared her to everyone who crossed her path.
“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” President Tinubu said.
The President urged the entire bereaved family to find solace during this difficult time in the remarkable legacy of faith, dignity, and service that Dame Mary Amaechi bequeathed to her children, the Church, and society at large.
“May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time,” the President added.
