Tinubu, Atiku, Obi congratulate Adeleke on re-election victory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other front line presidential candidates have congratulated Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on his electoral victory at the August 15 gubernatorial elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed the Osun State governorship election as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress administration.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” President Tinubu said.
He wished the governor success in leading the state over the next four years and called for unity following the conclusion of the polls.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he stated.
President Tinubu also commended the other candidates who participated in the election, noting that their involvement strengthened the nation’s political landscape.
“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture. The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” he said.
The President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
He concluded with prayers for the nation, stating, “May our democracy continue to thrive and be strengthened. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke and the voters in Osun State following the conduct of the state governorship election.
Speaking through his media office in Abuja on Sunday, Atiku described the outcome of the poll as a reflection of the democratic wishes of the people of Osun State.
“The outcome of last Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Osun State is an expression of the wishes of the people, which has earned Governor Adeleke his re-election,” Atiku said.
He noted that the voter turnout in the state established an important benchmark for future national electoral exercises.
“The lesson from the election is that the voters in Osun State have set a good example of how we must come out in large numbers in the general elections next year,” he stated.
Atiku commended the electorate for standing firm to safeguard their votes, describing voter turnout and vigilance as effective measures against electoral malpractice.
“Another important lesson from the Osun election is that it is a clear manifestation of how the collective resolve of the electorate to stand firm to protect their ballot is the best antidote to rigging, vote buying and other electoral malpractice and irregularities,” he added.
Assessing the performance of the ruling party, Atiku argued that the election result highlights public sentiment toward the current administration’s policies.
“Nigerians have roundly rejected the APC. The election in Osun State is just a telling indication that the APC will be defeated in the general election in January 2027. Indeed, it is a forerunner of the 2027 General Elections,” he said.
He appreciated Governor Adeleke for leading his supporters through the election and encouraged him to remain committed to delivering effective governance.
“While we congratulate Governor Adeleke for his victory at the polls, I wish to urge him to continue with the process of good governance that has earned him the affection of the people and to make Osun State a shining success that the country will be proud of. One good term is indeed deserving of another,” Atiku concluded.
Similalry, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi described the outcome of the poll as a victory for the people of Osun State and a demonstration of active civic engagement.
“I warmly congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and the good people of Osun State on this important democratic victory.”
“They have spoken with courage and clarity, reaffirming that the power to choose their leaders belongs to the people,” he said.
