Tinubu assents to NPERA bill

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) Bill, 2026.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, in a statement.
The Minister commended the President for paving the way for a dedicated, robust, and independent economic regulator for the nation’s ports.
He noted that the landmark legislation will strengthen the regulation of tariffs, charges, competition, licensing, and commercial disputes, bringing greater certainty, transparency, and efficiency to Nigeria’s port sector.
He further highlighted that the law marks a significant step toward building a globally competitive maritime economy and unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s Blue Economy.
The Minister also thanked the President for his visionary leadership and commitment to transforming the maritime sector.
