FUNAAB to host 41st annual fisheries conference in October

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to host the 41st Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON).

The national event is scheduled to take place from October 26 to 31, 2026.

During a meeting on July 31, 2026, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) reviewed proposed subcommittee budgets alongside the draft program of activities, emphasizing prudent resource allocation, transparency, and effective planning.

LOC Secretary Dr. Sherifat Adegbesan noted that all subcommittees would present and defend their budgets to ensure proper financial alignment.

Presenting for the Editorial Subcommittee, Dr. Oluwaseun Ojelade outlined costs for media, technical materials, and editorial activities, revealing that 119 acceptance letters had already been issued to authors following a successful review process.

LOC Chairman Prof. Festus Adeosun commended members for their contributions and urged subcommittees to incorporate the committee’s recommendations into their revised proposals.

He expressed confidence that collaborative efforts would ensure a seamless and successful conference.
