At least three members of the Enugu State Executive Council have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the anticipated move by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to the ruling party.

The defectors include Dr Lawrence Ezeh, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology; Dr Amaka Ngene, Chairman of the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board; and Dr Felix Nnamani, Commissioner for Labour and Employment.

In a video posted on Monday by Mr Dan Nwomeh, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, the officials were seen together, openly identifying with the APC.

“Enugu State Cabinet Members join the APC with full chest along with Governor PN Mbah – from left to right, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, the Prince of Mburumbu, Dr Lawrence Ezeh; Chairman of the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board, Dr Amaka S. Ngene; and Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Dr Felix Nnamani,” Nwomeh wrote on X.

Governor Mbah, who was elected under the PDP in 2023, is widely expected to formally announce his defection to the APC in the coming days.

Meanwhile, multiple videos circulating on social media show the APC flag already hoisted at the Enugu Government House, further fueling speculation that the governor’s transition to the ruling party is imminent.
