In a decisive effort to reinforce Nigeria’s economic stability and drive sustainable development, the Federal Government has officially launched the Revenue Optimisation and Assurance Project (REV-OP).

The initiative, unveiled by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, during a high-level session at his Abuja office, is a core reform agenda of the Tinubu administration. It is aimed at overhauling the country’s public financial management and revenue systems through a modern, technology-driven framework.

“This is not a rebrand, but a clean break,” Edun stated. “REV-OP signals the beginning of a more secure and accountable financial future for Nigeria.”

The project is expected to address critical challenges such as revenue leakages and lack of transparency while accelerating national economic growth. The event drew senior officials from major financial institutions, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. Private sector technology partners were also in attendance, reflecting the multi-stakeholder collaboration behind the programme.

To guarantee effective implementation, REV-OP will operate through a structured two-tier governance model consisting of a Steering Committee and a dedicated Project Management Team. Daily coordination meetings have been built into the framework to ensure accountability and the timely achievement of targets.

The initiative aligns closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic strategy, with objectives centred on boosting domestic revenue mobilisation, closing fiscal loopholes, and fostering a stable, investor-friendly financial environment.

As Nigeria embarks on this ambitious transformation, the REV-OP project is expected to play a key role in redefining the country’s fiscal landscape, ushering in a new era of transparency, efficiency, and economic resilience.
