The best is in sight - Sanwo-Olu writes open letter to Lagosians

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has written a open letter to the residents of Lagos State, calling for national optimism and a renewal of faith in the Renewed Hope agenda.
The letter, released on Sunday to commemorate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 74th birthday, was distributed alongside 20,000 food packs to citizens across the state's 57 local government and council development areas.
In the letter, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the President as an extraordinary leader and a meticulous strategist whose visionary leadership from 1999 to 2007 laid the foundation for Lagos to become Africa's second-largest city economy.
The Governor noted that the state’s current GDP of approximately $259 billion is a direct result of the revenue architecture and institutional pillars pioneered by Tinubu.
Addressing the current macroeconomic climate, the Governor used the letter to offer a message of resilience.
"We have endured the pains of the reforms together, and now we are beginning to reap the rewards of our endurance. The worst is behind us, and the best is in sight. As we look towards 2027, let us do so with optimism, confidence, and conviction," the letter stated.
The Governor specifically addressed diverse segments of the Lagos population from the traders in Balogun and tech entrepreneurs in Yaba to fishermen in Badagry and students in Surulere urging them to see the birthday gifts not merely as palliatives, but as a symbolic united voice of Lagos standing with the President.
He emphasized that the transformation initiated by the Tinubu administration must not be abandoned midstream, describing the current reforms as seeds planted with courage that are just beginning to bear fruit.
The letter concluded with a tribute to the President's role as the architect of modern Lagos, noting that the Greater Lagos Rising agenda continues to build upon the legacy of excellence nurtured during the President's tenure as Governor.
Sanwo-Olu called on all Lagosians to join him in praying for the President's continued wisdom and strength as he leads the journey toward national rebirth.
