Tegbe seeks Police collaboration to tackle vandalism, theft

The Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe has sought the collaboration of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in tackling vandalism and theft in the power sector.

The Minister made this known when he led a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Power on a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Riliwan Disu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Joined by key ministry officials including the Permanent Secretary Mr. Mahmud Mamman, Director of Distribution, Engr. Mustapha Baba-Umara, Director of Energy Resources, Engr. Kingsley Eneh, and his Special Assistant, Mr. Martins Olajide, the Minister highlighted the severe impact of energy theft and infrastructure vandalization on the power sector.

He also appealed for enhanced tactical collaboration and sustained support from the Nigeria Police Force to intensify surveillance around critical assets and curb power-related crimes across the country.

In response, IGP Disu assured the delegation of the Police Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure, reinforcing energy security, and ensuring that those responsible for vandalization and theft face the full weight of the law.
