Osun guber: IGP Disu orders CPs to strengthen border security

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Riliwan Disu has directed the Commissioner of Police for Osun State, alongside those of neighboring commands, to fortify border security ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state.

Addressing members of the Force Management Team and senior commanders at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja on Tuesday, IGP Disu tasked the Commissioners to deploy critical operational assets well in advance to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and violence-free environment for voters.

He also charged members of the force to uphold the highest standards of due diligence and professionalism in safeguarding the nation.

He further commended the tactical gallantry demonstrated by operatives nationwide in countering banditry and violent crime, citing the successful hostage rescue operation in Oyo State as a landmark example of operational excellence.

Addressing administrative integrity, IGP Disu issued a firm warning against unauthorized case transfers and unnecessary interference in ongoing investigations.

He emphasized that such unethical practices severely compromise investigative outcomes, undermine public confidence, and jeopardize the administration of justice.

The meeting further evaluated robust operational strategies to curb the rising incidents of organized crime and critical infrastructure vandalism across the country.

To boost institutional transparency and strengthen community relations, the IGP highlighted an upcoming executive workshop for all Commissioners of Police, themed “Enhancing Strategic Communication, Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and Public Relations Excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.”

In his closing remarks, IGP Disu urged all personnel to intensify their efforts in fulfilling the Force’s mandate to protect lives and property. He also expressed sincere appreciation to the Nigerian public, acknowledging that timely, actionable intelligence provided by citizens remains a vital contribution to successful police operations across the nation.
