Technician docked over alleged theft of fans valued N70,000

A 25-year old man, Safwan Muazu, was on Monday arraigned before a Dutse Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged theft of two ceiling fans valued N70,000

Muazu, a technician residing at Shagari Quarters, Dei-Dei, Abuja, is being charged with criminal breach of trust, cheating and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

‎The Prosecutor, Juliana Atinko, told the court that Muazu committed the offences on Aug. 13.

Atinko said that the complainant, Yunusa Abdullahi, Chief Imam of Central Mosque, Dakwa, reported the matter at B Division Police Station, Dei-Dei, on Aug. 17.

‎She said that Abdullahi gave Muazu two faulty ceiling fans for repairs, but that the defendant never returned the fans until he was arrested.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 312, 322 and 288 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.

‎The Senior Magistrate, Yusuf Alkali, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000, with one reliable surety in like sum.

‎He ordered that the surety must provide a valid means of identification, and must live within the court’s jurisdiction.

‎The magistrate adjourned the matter until Nov. 2 for hearing.
