The Federal Government has announced that reconstruction work on the Suleja-Minna road project is scheduled to officially commence on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, confirmed the timeline following a project implementation meeting with Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, in Abuja. During the discussions, the Minister stated that mobilization funds for the project are already available, urging the appointed contractors to expedite the necessary documentation to access the capital and move to the site immediately.

In a significant shift toward enhancing infrastructure durability, the Minister revealed that the project design has been reviewed. The road will now be constructed using concrete pavement rather than asphalt, a change intended to align the highway with global construction standards.

Addressing the status of the 7-kilometer Maje-Dikko dual carriageway, the Minister noted that the project has been concessioned under the NNPC Tax Credit Scheme, with work expected to begin in the near future.

Governor Bago expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s innovative approach to road construction and his commitment to meeting international standards.

He reaffirmed the readiness of the Niger State government to provide an enabling environment to ensure the seamless execution of all federal road projects within the state.

While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the widespread infrastructural development currently underway across the country, Governor Bago made a passionate appeal for the federal government to accelerate the Niger State segment of the Lagos–Badagry Super Highway project.

According to the Governor, fast-tracking this specific section would provide substantial socio-economic benefits to the local population.
