The All Progressives Stakeholders Forum has appealed to President Bola Tinubu not to approve any changes to the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s next national convention scheduled for early 2026.
The forum made its position known in an open letter addressed to President Tinubu on Tuesday in Abuja. Dr. Maryam Danjaki, National President of the forum, said the appeal was driven by a desire to maintain stability within the party as it prepares for its next phase.
“With deep respect and patriotic concern, we commend your leadership and humbly advise against any sudden alteration or removal of the current APC NWC before its next national convention,” Danjaki stated.
She warned that any premature shake-up could trigger internal unrest and create openings for political opportunists to destabilize the party. “At this critical stage in your administration, tampering with the current leadership may weaken party cohesion and disrupt the focus on governance,” she added.
Danjaki described the current NWC as a stabilizing force and expressed confidence that allowing it to serve its full term would bolster internal trust and help the Tinubu-led administration remain focused on its Renewed Hope agenda.
“This is a time for consolidation, harmony, and stability within the party,” she said. “We trust that any leadership changes, where necessary, can be addressed democratically and strategically during the convention.”
She also reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu administration and promoting a stable, inclusive, and forward-looking APC.
In a closing remark, Danjaki condoled with the APC and the nation on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a statesman whose legacy of integrity and patriotism laid the foundation for the APC’s growth into a national political force.
