Spain stun France 2-0 to book World Cup final spot

Spain has defeated France 2-0 to book a spot in the  FIFA World Cup 2026™ final.

In a masterclass of tactical discipline and defensive steel, La Roja defeated tournament favorites France 2-0 at a packed Dallas Stadium to secure their first final appearance since their historic 2010 triumph.

Spain broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Mikel Oyarzabal coolly converted a penalty past French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The penalty was awarded following a defensive miscue by Les Bleus, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

France struggled to find their rhythm in the final third, with Kylian Mbappé heavily marked by Spain’s defensive unit.

Any hopes of a French comeback were dashed in the 57th minute when Spanish defender Pedro Porro doubled the lead with a sublime strike.

Despite tactical adjustments and a flurry of substitutions from Didier Deschamps, including the introduction of Rayan Cherki and Désiré Doué, France could not breach Unai Simón’s goal. Late frustrations boiled over for the French squad, culminating in a yellow card for captain Kylian Mbappé in the 85th minute.

With this monumental victory, Spain maintains their incredible unbeaten streak. They will face either England or Argentina in the final on Sunday.
