Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent threat to suspend American aid to Nigeria if the Bola Tinubu administration fails to stop attacks on Christians.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, accused the Nigerian government of allowing what he described as “killings of Christians,” warning that Washington might be forced to intervene if the situation continues.

Reacting on Sunday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sowore said Trump had no moral ground to threaten Nigeria, arguing that America’s military interventions have caused more harm than good across the world.

“You destroyed Libya, attacked Iraq and Afghanistan, caused so much instability everywhere. The hypocrisy is too much. Nigerians must resist these colonial bullies,” Sowore wrote.

The activist insisted that while insecurity remains a challenge in Nigeria, foreign interference is not the solution.

“Nigeria’s problems must be solved internally through justice, equity and good governance — not through threats from those who contributed to global instability,” he added.

Trump’s post has continued to draw mixed reactions globally, with religious and political leaders urging caution and diplomatic engagement between both nations.
