The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has declared that the entire Southern Kaduna has now joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking what he described as a political earthquake in the region’s long-standing support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The declaration came on Saturday during a rally in Kafanchan, organised to welcome prominent Southern Kaduna politicians including Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Kaduna South Senatorial District, and Hon. Daniel Amos, the member representing Jamaa/Sanga Federal Constituency as they officially defected from the PDP to the APC, along with thousands of their supporters.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, the Speaker credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style and developmental strides in the region as the driving force behind the mass movement.

“For decades, Southern Kaduna was seen as the stronghold of the PDP — they claimed ownership of your loyalty and destiny,” Abbas said. “But today, that claim has ended. The people have reclaimed their power. The tide has turned. The old walls have fallen. Southern Kaduna now stands with the All Progressives Congress.”

He described the defection as “a message that the era of division is over,” adding that it signifies “a new dawn for unity, inclusion, and development” under President Tinubu’s administration.

According to Abbas, several major projects including the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and a Military Command Centre in Samaru Kataf — reflect the government’s renewed commitment to Southern Kaduna’s growth and security.

He said: “These are living proofs of inclusion and justice. President Tinubu leads not with promises but with action. He delivers development where it matters most.”

Abbas also praised Governor Uba Sani for fostering inclusive governance in Kaduna State, describing him as “a strong pillar of support who has built bridges where divisions once stood.”

He called on the people of Southern Kaduna to continue backing the Tinubu-led Federal Government and the Uba Sani administration, assuring that “Southern Kaduna is now a priority in the 2025 budget.”

In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani said the growing wave of defections to the APC reflected the people’s trust in the party’s inclusive governance and developmental agenda.

“When I took office in 2023, I pledged to run a government for all. Today’s event shows that the people have embraced that promise,” the governor stated.
