… LP’s George Moghalu loses polling unit to APGA
Early returns from the Anambra 2025 governorship election show incumbent Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leading in several polling units as counting continues across the state.
The exercise officially ended at 2:00 p.m., but INEC officials allowed voters already in the queue to cast their ballots. Partial results from multiple wards indicate strong showings for APGA over rival parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
At Polling Unit 015, Ward 09, Nnokwa, Idemili South LGA, APGA recorded 60 votes, APC 15, LP 2, YPP 2 and PDP 1. At Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi North LGA, APGA polled 69 votes, LP 21 and APC 14. Other early tallies include APGA 132, APC 39 and YPP 13 at PU010, Ward 2, Amawbia, Awka South LGA; and APGA 134, YPP 19 and APC 5 at PU009, Ward 1, Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata LGA.
In a noteworthy result, Labour Party candidate George Moghalu lost his own polling unit to APGA’s Soludo. The figures released for that unit showed APGA 57, LP 22 and APC 5, with one invalid vote. Registered voters at the unit numbered 463, with 86 accredited.
It was gathered that early pattern reflects APGA’s continued grassroots strength and the incumbent’s visibility across the state, but they caution that the overall outcome will depend on collation of results from all local government areas.
