PDP leaders pass vote of no confidence on Osun Deputy Gov, two others

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Ife Federal Constituency have passed a vote of no confidence on Osun State Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, former PDP National Secretary Professor Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP Chairman Honourable Olasunkanmi Makinde over allegations of anti-party conduct.
The decision was reached during a constituency meeting convened at the residence of the Osun East Senatorial Leader. The resolution was endorsed by the former Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Ropo Oyewole, two serving commissioners, and 36 other party stakeholders.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the leaders accused Adewusi, Oladipo, and Makinde of undermining the PDP’s interests in Ifeland, claiming their actions were detrimental to the party’s unity and electoral strength.
They alleged that the three leaders had been fraternising with Honourable Taofeek Ajilesoro, the House of Representatives member who defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The communiqué also accused Makinde of inviting thugs to the constituency gathering at the instruction of Oladipo, describing the move as an attempt to intimidate members and sow division.
The party stakeholders further claimed that loyal PDP members in Ife East, including Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (popularly known as Gbogbo Ebe), and Yakubu Olawusi, had been victimised and removed from leadership roles for resisting Ajilesoro’s defection. They added that regular party meetings in the local government area had been suspended, which they alleged was part of a strategy to weaken the PDP’s structure in the constituency.
The communiqué stated: “In view of the above, which constitute anti-party activities and pose grave danger to the success of the PDP in Ifeland, the meeting hereby resolves as follows: a vote of no confidence is passed on Professor Wale Oladipo, Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and Honourable Olasunkanmi Makinde (popularly known as Benco), Chairman of Ife East Local Government PDP.”
Reacting to the development, Professor Oladipo dismissed the resolution, describing it as laughable. “We are all Ifes. It is absolute rubbish. They are just joking. They are a set of jesters,” he said.
