The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday suspended the confirmation of Kingsley Udeh (SAN) as minister due to the absence of mandatory security clearance.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio told lawmakers during plenary that the confirmation could not proceed until the chamber received the required security report.
“The confirmation of the minister-nominee would have been next on the list, but we need security clearance,” he explained.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of Udeh, an Enugu State indigene, as minister.
The letter was read by Akpabio during the session.
The suspension delays Udeh’s confirmation until the security clearance is formally provided.
