The son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, has emerged as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government following the resignation of the erstwhile council boss, Hon. Tunde Azeez.

Azeez, who had been on medical leave since the inauguration of the current administration, formally tendered his resignation due to persistent health challenges that affected his ability to perform his official duties.

His resignation letter was read on Wednesday during the council’s plenary session by the Leader of the House, Hon. Adeshina Haruna, after which lawmakers unanimously approved it.

Following the approval, the lawmakers voted unanimously in favour of Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the new Chairman of the council.

According to the lawmakers, the decision to elect Obasa’s son was based on his notable contributions to the development of Agege and the need to prevent a leadership vacuum in the local government.
