A 30-year-old security guard, Ayomide Akinola, on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing air conditioners and television sets worth N4.4 million in Lagos.

Akinola, of No. 42, Olaogun St., Egbeda, Ibadan, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

He pleaded guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Donjor Perezi, had told the court that Akinola and others still at large committed the offences on July 25 at Orlazbukkaby Pepperwood Company, Shangisha, Ketu, Lagos.

Perezi said Akinola, who worked as a security guard at the company, conspired with others to steal three Kenstar air conditioners valued at N800,000 each and two Hisense television sets worth N1 million each.

The prosecutor said the three air conditioners were worth N2.4 million, while the two television sets cost N2 million, bringing the total value of the items to N4.4 million.

He said the offences contravened Sections 287(7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Daodu, adjourned the case until Dec. 7 for review of facts and sentencing.
