Security forces arrest smugglers supplying crminals in Yagba West

Security operatives in Yagba West Local Government Area (LGA) have successfully intercepted and arrested two individuals for allegedly smuggling essential supplies to criminal elements operating in the local forests.
The suspects, identified as Abayo David and David Bori, both from Itedo-Ijowa, Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, were apprehended around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Their arrest was a result of a routine patrol conducted by members of the Yagba West Local Government Hunters and Vigilantes.
The arrest aligns with a recent directive issued by the Yagba West Local Government Council, which strictly prohibits the sale and transportation of food items, petroleum products, and other logistics to criminals within the area.
Preliminary investigations confirm that the suspects were conveying food and other materials intended for their collaborators hiding in the bush. Security operatives are actively tracking their accomplices who fled the scene.
Hon. Tosin Olokun, the Executive Chairman of Yagba West LGA and Chairman of Kogi State ALGON, praised the Hunters and the Joint Task Force for their vigilance and swift action. He affirmed the council's unwavering commitment to cutting off all forms of logistical support to criminal networks.
Recalling a recent incident, the Chairman highlighted the danger of such collaboration, noting that an okada rider transporting supplies to a bandit group was recently killed when he encountered a rival group being pursued by security forces.
Hon. Olokun issued a stern warning to all petroleum marketers, food vendors, and transport operators to immediately stop selling or conveying bulk goods to the forest or face severe legal consequences.
He emphasized that the fight against insecurity requires the cooperation and patriotism of all citizens, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to authorities.
The Chairman concluded by noting the success of the recent joint military operation in the LGA, which has resulted in the dismantling of several criminal hideouts and a significant improvement in the security situation.
He reaffirmed that joint operations will be sustained until peace and stability are fully restored.
