Savannah Energy appoints legal expert, Kehinde Ogunwumiju as non-executive director

Savannah Energy Plc has appointed Kehinde Ogunwumiju, 43, as a Non-Executive Director of the company, with immediate effect. Ogunwumiju holds no shareholding in the firm.

Joseph Pagop Noupoué, Non-Executive Chair of Savannah, welcomed the appointment, describing Ogunwumiju as “an internationally respected legal professional with a proven track record of supporting dynamic, high-growth organisations such as Savannah.” 

He added that Ogunwumiju’s expertise would be crucial as the company continues to execute its expansion strategy across Africa.

Reacting to his appointment, Ogunwumiju said he was “pleased to be joining Savannah at this important stage in its growth” and looked forward to contributing his experience to help the company achieve its wide-ranging objectives.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ogunwumiju is the Managing Partner at Afe Babalola & Co, a leading African law firm. 

He has represented the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in over 100 disputes and acted for the Federal Republic of Nigeria in multiple international cases, including a near $5 billion claim at the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, DC.

In addition to his legal practice, Ogunwumiju has served on several boards over the past five years, including Abuad Management Company Ltd, Adga Investment Nigeria Ltd, Bita Exploration and Production Limited, Curlew Express Limited, Enerymix Nigeria Ltd, Lumen Energy Limited, and Afe Babalola & Co.
