Rivers Police intensify manhunt for suspected killer keke rider

A keke rider identified simply as IK is said to have beaten his wife, a mother of two to death and abandoned her corpse alongside their children at Ogbogoro Community,an outskirt of Port Harcourt, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident, according to an eye witness, is said to have occurred along the CPM Street axis of Ogbogoro on 2nd of June 2026.

One Mr. Senibo, a resident of the community told our Correspondent that at about 7:00 a.m that fateful day, residents were alerted to a disturbing scene along the street where two young female children, within the ages of between four and six, and the lifeless body of an adult woman were found inside a parked tricycle(keke).

According to the eyewitness, operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division had already arrived at the scene before he got there. He said the older child was interrogated by the police and said to have narrated how her father used an object to beat their mother at a guest house ,where they had lodged on Monday night.

The child reportedly said that after their father realized that their mother could no longer stand or speak, he drove them out of the guest house, abandoned the children and their mother’s body inside the tricycle, and fled.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Agabe Kaborlo, confirmed the incident.

According to her, “the Ozuoba Police Division received information from a passerby who noticed two children and a woman who appeared lifeless inside a blue tricycle parked by the roadside.”

“The Ozuoba Police Division patrol team swiftly moved to the scene, where officers found the lifeless body of a woman and two children aged about five years and six months respectively”.

“The five-year-old child informed the police that her father used an object to beat her mother during the night, leaving her seriously injured. When the father noticed that the woman had become weak, he allegedly rushed her to an undisclosed hospital where she was pronounced dead”, the PPRO said .

She added that the suspect subsequently abandoned the children and the corpse inside the tricycle before fleeing.

The Police Image Maker further stated that a sister to the deceased was later contacted by the police and she identified the body. She said the corpse has been deposited in a mortuary, while further investigations continue.

The PPRO said that the deceased’s sister has taken custody of the two children, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
