Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative as the driving force behind national development efforts and the strategic framework guiding governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the assertion while receiving the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative and former Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Gombe.
In a statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor said the Renewed Hope Initiative remains the vehicle through which APC-led governments are translating policies into tangible benefits for Nigerians.
The statement reads partly:“As Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, the majority of us are APC governors, just as the Federal Government is APC. We all emerged under the Renewed Hope mantra, which truly encapsulates the ideals and principles upon which our party is built.
“The Renewed Hope Initiative serves as the platform through which APC-led governments deliver meaningful development and improve the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
“If Nigeria eventually becomes a one-party nation as a result of progress and performance, so be it, provided it delivers development and improved welfare for the Nigerian people.
“Our focus must remain on ensuring that the Renewed Hope Initiative reaches every corner of the country and continues to translate into real benefits for our people.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that the vision of the Gombe State Government aligns fully with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the core principles of the APC, stressing that governance at all levels must be people-focused and impact-driven.
He said the establishment of various party and policy committees under the initiative has strengthened the APC’s resolve to ensure continuity, coordination and effective service delivery across federal and state governments.
The governor expressed optimism over growing public confidence in the APC, attributing it to visible progress and sustained reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration despite prevailing economic challenges.
He urged party leaders and stakeholders to remain focused, confront challenges decisively and prioritise unity, insisting that political strength must always translate into improved welfare and development outcomes for Nigerians.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also reaffirmed Gombe State’s position as a stronghold of the APC, assuring the Renewed Hope delegation of continued support, cooperation and productive engagement.
Earlier, Malam Isa Yuguda praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership, describing him as a symbol of justice, equity and stability in the North-East region.
Yuguda said the governor’s role as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum has positioned him as a respected leader whose commitment to fairness and inclusive governance continues to inspire confidence across the region.
He stressed that while infrastructure development is important, the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of any government, describing peace and security as a sacred trust between leaders and God.
Yuguda commended the governor for sustaining peace in Gombe State, noting that the absence of major security crises reflects effective leadership and deliberate governance choices.
He expressed hope that future leaders would emulate Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s governance style, which he said successfully balances peace, justice and development.
Speaking on the Renewed Hope Initiative, Yuguda described it as a comprehensive programme designed to fulfil President Tinubu’s promise to improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.
He acknowledged criticisms of the current administration but said many Nigerians are unaware of the severe economic challenges inherited by the government, including fuel subsidy removal, depleted foreign reserves and mounting domestic debt.
According to him, the initiative will prioritise public sensitisation on government policies and reforms while deepening grassroots engagement and empowerment across the country.
Yuguda explained that the focus of the programme is not on short-term handouts but on sustainable empowerment through skills acquisition, small-scale enterprise support and guaranteed market access for beneficiaries.
He disclosed that the initiative targets the empowerment of about 1,000 persons per ward nationwide, adding that even achieving half of that goal would represent a significant milestone.
He said empowering citizens at the grassroots would stimulate economic activity, improve purchasing power and enhance overall quality of life across communities.
The visit was attended by the Gombe State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hon. Aishatu Jibir Dukku, and an associate of the governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saleh Hassan.
