The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has pledged to support the Enugu State Government in the effective planning, execution, and management of construction projects, as Governor Peter Mbah accelerates infrastructure development across the state.
President of the Institute, Mr Kene Nzekwe, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House in Enugu. He commended Mbah for his ambitious infrastructure agenda and reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to ensuring that all ongoing and future projects are executed with precision, cost-efficiency, and transparency.
“Quantity surveyors are central to any meaningful construction project,” Nzekwe said. “We specialize in cost management, ensuring financial integrity and timely delivery. Our involvement guarantees that every naira spent yields maximum value.”
He applauded the peaceful and welcoming environment in Enugu, noting that it reflects the government’s effective leadership and commitment to development. Nzekwe also praised the widespread scale of projects in the state, describing them as evidence of Mbah’s drive to bring development to all corners of Enugu.
Highlighting the importance of infrastructure in driving economic growth, he called on the state government to extend its support to the Enugu chapter of the Institute, enabling it to contribute more effectively to ongoing development efforts.
In response, Governor Mbah assured the Institute of his administration’s continued collaboration, noting that quantity surveyors are crucial to maintaining transparency and accountability in public spending.
“Our governance is anchored on transparency, accountability, and traceability of funds,” he said. “To achieve this, we rely heavily on professionals like quantity surveyors who ensure value for money in project execution.”
Mbah disclosed that the state is currently overseeing more than 2,000 completed and ongoing projects, including the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across all 260 political wards.
He reiterated the state’s commitment to partnering with experts to deliver sustainable infrastructure that meets the highest standards, adding that the contributions of quantity surveyors will remain vital to achieving those goals.
