The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has acquitted himself creditably within two years in office.
Idris made the statement during an appearance on “Politics Today,” a current affairs programme aired on Channels Television.
He stated that President Tinubu had implemented bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth and long-term stability.
According to the minister, key policy decisions taken at the onset of the administration — including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate — were major steps that previous governments had failed to implement.
He said the administration was aware of the temporary pains caused by the reforms but insisted the measures were necessary to reset the economy and rebuild a functional foundation for future prosperity.
The minister said Tinubu was not focused on cosmetic changes or short-term fixes, but rather on laying down structures for lasting development.
He maintained that the pains Nigerians were experiencing were easing out gradually and the government remained committed to delivering on its promises.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure long-term national progress.
He listed major initiatives under Tinubu’s leadership, including the student loan scheme with over 300,000 registered beneficiaries and the establishment of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation to improve access to household essentials.
He said the federal government had also implemented a new national minimum wage to support workers and was investing heavily in education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure at sub-national levels.
According to him, dialysis centres are being constructed across all six geopolitical zones, and the administration is investing in medical industrialisation, the creative industry, and the digital economy.
Speaking on national security, the minister stated that President Tinubu had demonstrated strong leadership by issuing clear directives to security agencies to restore peace and protect lives across the country.
He said the President had prioritised synergy among the military and security operatives to tackle terrorism, banditry, and other threats.
Idris cited the recent attacks in Benue State and said Tinubu responded swiftly by visiting the area in person along with top security chiefs.
He noted that the president had issued marching orders to the armed forces to neutralise criminal elements and prevent further bloodshed.
Idris added that Tinubu’s approach to leadership was proactive and result-oriented, especially in confronting national challenges.
He further stated that the president was strengthening diplomatic ties with neighbouring countries and deploying technology to improve border security.
The minister expressed confidence that Tinubu would continue to deliver on his mandate and leave a legacy of lasting transformation for Nigeria.
