Police rescue 15 kidnapped victims, arrest seven suspects

The Benue State Police Command has rescued 15 kidnap victims following a coordinated security operation across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, disclosed this on Sunday while presenting the rescued individuals to Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House in Makurdi.

Recall that the victims including students were travelling to take JAMB exams when they were abducted by gunmen in Benue state last week.

Reacting, the Benue CP stated that the rescue was achieved through a joint operation involving multiple security agencies, noting that all victims were found in good health.

He described the successful mission as a major breakthrough in the state's ongoing battle against organized kidnapping.

The police boss also confirmed the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the abductions, stating that these arrests have significantly advanced current investigations.

The suspects were reportedly tracked and apprehended using credible intelligence and are currently in custody as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
