The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 45-year-old Adeoye Taiwo for allegedly pouring hot water on her 13-year-old niece, Adeoye Modinat, leaving the child with severe burns.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on April 13, 2026, in the Odomogun area of Ijebu Imusin. The victim is the daughter of the suspect’s twin sister and lives with her.

According to a source, Taiwo accused the minor of “following men” and instructed her own daughter to boil the water she later poured on the girl.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident on Sunday. He said detectives responded immediately after the report, rescued the victim, and transferred her to a medical facility where she is receiving treatment.

“The incident was reported to the police, prompting an immediate response from detectives attached to the division,” Babaseyi said.

“Upon receipt of the report, detectives swiftly visited the scene, rescued the victim, and ensured her immediate transfer to a medical facility.”

Taiwo was arrested, detained, and arraigned before the Ijebu Mushin Magistrate Court, where she was granted bail of N3 million. She was remanded at Igbegba Correctional Centre after failing to meet the bail conditions.

Babaseyi condemned all forms of violence and abuse against children and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society.
