The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has declared one Tijani Shukurat Ajoke wanted for allegedly engaging in lesbianism.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect was reportedly discovered by community members on April 5, 2024, engaging in same-sex acts.

The police spokesperson confirmed that a thorough investigation had been conducted, substantiating the allegations. Under Nigerian law, same-sex relationships are illegal and carry a penalty of up to 14 years imprisonment.

“Sadly, in an attempt to apprehend them, Tijani Shukurat Ajoke escaped,” the statement read.

The Police noted that the suspect fled the scene and has since evaded capture.

The command appealed to members of the public with useful information regarding her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station, as various attempts to arrest and prosecute her have so far proved abortive.
