Police assure tight security for forthcoming JAMB examinations

The Nigeria Police Force has assured candidates and the general public of adequate security arrangements ahead of the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, dismissed reports circulating about the safety of some examination centres in a North Central state, stressing that the claims lack credibility.
The police, however, noted that despite not acting on rumours, it had taken public concerns seriously, particularly those relating to the safety and well-being of candidates, and had consequently implemented proactive security measures nationwide.
According to the statement, additional personnel have been deployed to examination centres across the country, to prevent any security breach stating that these measures include routine patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations.
The Force added that it is working in close collaboration with other security agencies to monitor and neutralise any potential threats, warning that individuals or groups attempting to disrupt the examination process would be promptly apprehended and prosecuted.
Reassuring parents and candidates, the police emphasised that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of the examinations advising candidates to arrive early at their designated centres, comply with all examination guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activity to security personnel on ground.
The police also urged members of the public to disregard unverified information circulating on social media and rely only on official communication from JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force.
The statement reiterated the commitment of the Force to maintaining public safety and confidence in national activities, while appreciating the cooperation of citizens and other security agencies in ensuring a smooth and secure examination process.
