Police arrest seven rapists in Edo as family decries gang raping of daughter

Edo State Police Command have arrested no fewer than seven hoodlums for allegedly raping a young woman in Etiosa Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, to a coma, just as the victim's family of Otasowie, has regretted what is regarded as imminent gang raped of its daughter, Mary Usoh Otasowie, in an uncompleted building along Otasowie street, in the locality at 9.20pm on the 16th of January 2016, while she was coming from the market that fateful day.

The seven boys on the police net according to the reports are; Sam, Jacob, Joseph, Abraham, Osas, Jerey and Best Benjamin.

Speaking with journalists, the victim whose report was confirmed by her brother, Osahon Otasowie, said that it took timely intervention of some good Samaritans in the area to rescue her after they were said to have

been confronted as the rapists escaped to thin air and that she was rushed to the Edo State Government owned Central Hospital where she was resuscitated but later diagnosed of being infected with sexually transmitted disease and a pile related ailment.

The victim averred that it was after she had recovered from the coma on the 17th February 2016 before she granted interview with journalists, saying her brother took her to the police station to make report and the hoodlums were consequently arrested but they were released on bail by the police.

On his part Osahon Otasowie said further that he and his sister went to the Area Command once of the Nigerian Police and that the police had launched investigations to unravel the circumstances leading to the ugly incident and ensure those behind the dastardly minded acts are brought to justice.
