Police arrest armed robbery, drug suspects in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes between April 20 and May 20, 2026, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, drug traffickers, vehicle thieves, and other violent offenders across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Bakori, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s monthly security update, noting that the achievements were the result of intensified intelligence-led operations and sustained patrols across criminal hotspots in the state. According to him, the command has stepped up its crime-fighting strategies through coordinated raids, surveillance, and community policing initiatives aimed at reducing violent crimes and restoring public confidence in security agencies.
He explained that several suspected armed robbery syndicates were dislodged during targeted operations, while kidnapped victims were successfully rescued in separate missions conducted by tactical units of the command.
CP Bakori further revealed that multiple suspected drug dealers were also apprehended with various quantities of illicit substances, adding that investigations are ongoing to dismantle wider criminal networks linked to drug distribution within and outside the state. In addition, the command recovered stolen vehicles and other valuables from suspected car theft syndicates operating in different parts of the Kano metropolis and surrounding communities.
He assured residents that the police remain committed to sustaining the momentum in the fight against crime, stressing that proactive policing and intelligence gathering have continued to yield positive results. The commissioner also called on members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information, noting that community cooperation remains vital in ensuring lasting peace and security in the state.
He reaffirmed that the command will not relent in its efforts to rid Kano of criminal elements, warning perpetrators to either repent or face the full weight of the law.
