Police, Apapa-Iganmu LCDA sensitise transport operators, traders on drug abuse, cultism

The Lagos State Police Command, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has partnered with the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to sensitise transport operators, traders and other stakeholders on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism and election-related violence.

The sensitisation programme, held at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA Secretariat on Friday, sought to promote public awareness and encourage community participation in crime prevention across the area.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, the Area Commander, Area B Command, ACP Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, urged participants to reject all forms of criminality and embrace lawful conduct.

She stressed that transport operators and traders occupy strategic positions in society and can contribute significantly to maintaining peace and security by remaining vigilant and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

Onwuamaegbu encouraged residents and stakeholders to support the Police with timely and credible information, while ensuring that criminal elements are not harboured within their communities.

She noted that sustained collaboration between the Police and members of the public remains critical to tackling crime and other social vices across Lagos State.

The programme also featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders, who underscored the need for collective responsibility in combating crime and sustaining peaceful coexistence.

The speakers called on residents to continue supporting security agencies through information sharing and active participation in community policing initiatives, describing public cooperation as a key factor in ensuring a safer environment.
