A dispatch rider sustained severe injuries in a road accident that occurred on Friday afternoon near Abule Egba Bridge, in front of the BRT junction opposite Super, causing panic among commuters and other road users.
The rider was reportedly involved in a collision with a korope commercial minibus while plying the busy route. The impact of the crash left him with a severe injury to one of his legs, resulting in profuse bleeding.
Eyewitnesses said the rider was trapped on the road immediately after the collision, with one of his legs badly injured. However concerned passers-by and other road users quickly rushed to his aid, making efforts to stop the bleeding before arranging for him to be taken to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The incident attracted a large crowd of commuters, motorists and traders, while traffic slowed briefly around the corridor as people gathered to assist the injured rider.
As of the time of filing this report, the condition of the dispatch rider remained unknown although the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Police or other emergency responders were not present at the scene.
Motorists were advised to exercise caution while approaching the Abule Egba Bridge axis, a major traffic corridor that experiences heavy vehicular and commercial activities daily.
Further details are expected as authorities provide updates on the incident.
