…hails APC as party with lowest political risk
Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State is poised to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), his political aide has confirmed.
Mr Istifanus Nwansat, Muftwang’s Political Adviser, told journalists on Monday in Abuja that the governor’s decision follows the ongoing crisis within the PDP.
Nwansat described the APC as the “platform with the least political risk” and the safest option for the state’s leadership.
“The crisis in the PDP has made it difficult for political actors to effectively contest elections
“After careful assessment of all available options, we concluded that joining the APC offers the least risk and aligns Plateau State with the President’s political and governance agenda,” she explained.
Nwansat added that the governor appreciates President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in advancing national development, stating that the move would synchronize state and federal governance priorities.
Recall that Governor Muftwang had previously indicated that he was under pressure to leave the PDP. Observers say the defection reflects a broader trend of political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
