Over 2,500 widows and underprivileged persons in Jos have received empowerment tools and essential items from renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur, Dr Stanley Uzochukwu. The donations included sewing machines, grinding machines, wheelchairs, and food supplies, distributed through the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation (SUF).

Dr Uzochukwu, who also serves as the CEO of Stanel Group, announced the initiative during a well-attended event that marked his birthday celebration. In addition to the donations, he revealed the establishment of a fully equipped school catering to over 1,000 orphans in Plateau State. He also handed over his personal home in Jos for the benefit of the children.

“This is a covenant I made with God,” Uzochukwu said while addressing the crowd. “I’m simply giving back in gratitude for what God has done in my life.”

He urged the beneficiaries to value the support provided, cautioning against selling the donated machines. He added that his wife would soon launch a training program to equip the women with tailoring skills and support them in setting up fashion businesses.

The event drew the presence of high-profile guests including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and former President of Sierra Leone, Earnest Koroma, both of whom commended Uzochukwu’s selfless commitment to humanitarian work.

Governor Mutfwang praised the gesture, noting it aligns with the state’s efforts to uplift the vulnerable. “This brings honour to God, and the prayers of these widows and orphans will continue to lift you,” he said. He also called on other privileged Nigerians to follow Uzochukwu’s example.

Koroma echoed similar sentiments, describing the philanthropist’s actions as a model for how individuals can directly impact lives and communities. He encouraged the beneficiaries to use the items productively and uplift others in return.
