The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its planned repeat congresses in Anambra and Ebonyi States.

The exercises, earlier slated for September 20, 24 and 29, were halted to allow for further consultations with leaders, stakeholders, and members, according to a statement issued on Friday by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba.

“The decision of the NWC is necessitated by the need for more consultations among the leaders, stakeholders, and members of our party in the respective states so as to ensure a smooth conduct of the exercise,” the statement read.

Mr Ologunagba added that fresh dates would be communicated in due course, urging aspirants and members to remain calm and united in the interest of the party.

He further notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, democracy development partners, the media, and the public of the development.

The rescheduled congresses are expected to shape the PDP’s grassroots structure in both states ahead of the crucial 2026 governorship elections.
