A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has welcomed the Federal High Court’s dismissal of the suit filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu over the PDP National Secretary position, describing it as a major boost to the party’s stability.
Ajadi said the ruling confirms the PDP’s strength as an institution and marks the end of a legal dispute that had lingered within the party.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said the court’s decision, which found that the matter had been overtaken by events, had restored clarity and confidence in the party’s leadership structure.
Ajadi said: “The PDP has once again shown that it is bigger than individuals and stronger than temporary internal disagreements. This ruling marks a return to stability, unity and order within the party.”
He noted that the judgement, alongside earlier court pronouncements, reinforces the PDP’s commitment to due process and internal democracy.
According to him, the party’s ability to resolve disputes through lawful means reflects its experience and deep-rooted democratic culture.
“The PDP remains one of the most established and resilient political institutions in Nigeria and Africa,” he said, adding that the party has repeatedly emerged stronger after internal challenges.
Ajadi also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of exploiting opposition crises instead of focusing on Nigeria’s economic and social problems.
He urged Nigerians who left the PDP out of concern over internal disputes to return ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the party is now better positioned to offer credible leadership.
“While the APC is distracted by political manoeuvring, the PDP is rebuilding, reuniting and preparing to present Nigerians with a better alternative,” he said.
The PDP aspirant called on party members across the country to close ranks and strengthen grassroots structures in preparation for future elections.
Ajadi added; “This is not a time for complacency but for renewed commitment and unity. The PDP must continue to stand for hope, inclusion and responsible governance.”
The Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier dismissed Anyanwu’s suit without awarding costs, bringing to an end one of the key legal disputes surrounding the PDP’s national leadership.
