Oyo Police deploy security ahead of UTME exams

The Oyo state police command has announced the deployment of extensive security measures across the state to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the 2026 unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME).

In a statement issued by the police public relations officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the commissioner of police directed the implementation of comprehensive security arrangements at all computer based test (CBT) centres statewide.

According to the statement, the move is aimed at guaranteeing a safe, orderly, and hitch free examination process for candidates sitting for the examination disclosing that adequate security personnel have been stationed at all designated centres, while visibility policing has been intensified across major roads, communities, and other critical points within the state.

He further noted that officers assigned to stop and search duties have been instructed to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and civility, ensuring that candidates and commuters are not unnecessarily delayed while en route to their examination centres.

The commissioner of police also charged area commanders, divisional police officers (DPOs), and other supervisory officers to take full responsibility within their jurisdictions and ensure that the exercise is conducted without any security breach.
