Osun guber: Group hail INEC’s professionalism ahead of polls

A coalition of political parties in Osun State has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for maintaining its pledge of neutrality ahead of the forthcoming August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday, the State Chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Hon. Odesola Titus, speaking on behalf of the group, praised the commission for its professionalism and for fostering a peaceful atmosphere during the election build-up.
Hon. Odesola noted that INEC staff in the state have demonstrated a high level of preparedness and competence, beginning with the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and continuing through the current phase of the electoral cycle.
“The early sensitization efforts embarked upon by the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Agboke, are commendable and unprecedented in the history of elections in our dear state. Dr. Agboke has shown immense respect to all political party chairmen and has consistently promised to be an unbiased umpire in the upcoming polls,” Odesola stated.
The coalition formally passed a vote of confidence in the REC, expressing their belief that the Osun governorship election will serve as a benchmark for integrity in Nigeria.
“We can vouch for Dr. Agboke’s integrity to conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible election on August 15. We have scrutinized his record and found nothing but dedication to the rule of law. We are solidly behind him because of the trust he has earned,” the statement noted
The group concluded by urging Osun residents to prepare for the exercise and participate fully, emphasizing that it is their civic duty to choose their preferred leader through a democratic process.
