The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Mr. Victor Akande, has dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, declaring them incapable of stopping the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking in Osogbo on Thursday, Akande stated that the opposition party and its candidate lack the popularity and public goodwill required to challenge the incumbent Governor.

According to him, the Adeleke administration has secured widespread support across the state through its people-oriented policies and governance style, which he noted have endeared the Governor to the residents.

Akande argued that the people of Osun have moved on from the APC due to the hardship experienced during their previous tenure.

“The candidate of the APC, with all due respect, is not a threat at all to the Governor. We know what that party stands for in this state, and we remember what we experienced when they were in power. The people rejected them completely because of the suffering and untold hardship the APC inflicted on the people of Osun State,” Akande said.

He cited the issue of unpaid salaries under the previous administration as a major reason for the APC’s rejection.

“It is a matter of history that when they ruled this state, the issue of half-salary caused the deaths of many pensioners. They were unable to buy drugs because their salaries were not paid, and the cooperative funds they belonged to were squandered by the government of that time. There were also numerous abandoned projects.”

“In contrast, when the present government came on board three years ago, everything was transformed. A testament to this is the flyover bridge in Oke-Fia and other projects visible in every nook and cranny of the state. This is why the Governor enjoys such large acceptance and support.”

“The APC is not a threat; it is clear that the people of Osun State do not want them again. They have been rejected,” he added.
