Osun APC slams Salam over comments on Tinubu

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned a member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, for his recent remarks against Pres. Bola Tinubu and key party figures.
The party, in a statement released on Thursday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, described the comments made by Salam during a television appearance as uncharitable, ill-informed, and misleading. Salam represents Ede North/Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency.
The APC recalled that Salam featured on Channels Television on Wednesday, where he made remarks concerning Pres. Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate for the Aug. 15, 2026 election, Bola Oyebamiji, and the Director-General of the election committee, Hon. Wole Oke.
“We know where Salam is coming from and we are not surprised that he could make such an unsubstantiated statement about our governorship candidate who has distinguished himself as an exemplary success in both his private and public life,” Olabisi stated.
The party suggested that the lawmaker’s comments were driven by the rejection of his principal's overtures to defect to the APC. The statement also noted that the appointment of Oke, an illustrious lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, as the D-G of the governorship campaign committee has created fears within the Accord Party.
Regarding the transfer of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to Ondo State, the APC maintained that the transfer of any official within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a routine internal arrangement. The party further claimed that the outcry over the transfer was suspicious.
The APC also dismissed Salam’s comparison of Pres. Tinubu with Gov. Ademola Adeleke, describing the two as incomparable in terms of productivity and leadership.
The statement concluded that no amount of outbursts would prevent the APC's victory in the forthcoming governorship election, asserting that the incumbent administration has proven it lacks what it takes to advance the state.
