Osun Accord alleges plot to tamper with voters’ register

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has raised alarm over an alleged clandestine plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise the integrity of the upcoming August 15 election. 

In a statement released by State Chairman Pastor Victor Akande, the party claimed to have uncovered details of a secret meeting held Wednesday at the Ileri Oluwa campaign office, where APC leadership allegedly resolved to direct the Resident Electoral Commissioner to selectively remove Accord supporters from the voters’ register.According to the allegations, the plan involves deleting approximately 75 Accord members and 25 APC members per polling unit to mask the manipulation as a technical glitch. 
The party further alleged that a three-man committee has been formed to coordinate with the INEC ICT department, using a call center linked to APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji as a tactical hub.
Pastor Akande described the purported scheme as an attempted coup against democracy and a desperate move by an opposition party fearing defeat. 
He issued a warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging the Resident Electoral Commissioner to maintain neutrality and resist any pressure to sabotage the sanctity of the vote. 
The Accord Party maintained that it would fiercely resist any fascist scheme designed to disenfranchise the people of Osun, calling on democratic stakeholders to remain vigilant as the election approaches.
