Osun 2026: INEC begins distribution of PVC ahead of guber election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In a statement on Monday signed by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the commission said the distribution will take place across the 332 Registration Areas in the state from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.
The REC stated that the exercise targets individuals who registered, applied for a transfer of registration, requested replacements for lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
She noted that after the exercise at the Registration Areas, collection will continue at INEC Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.
According to her, all concerned voters are strongly advised to take advantage of the exercise and collect their PVCs promptly within the stipulated period, as the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day.
In addition, uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises will be available for collection during this period.
The commission reminded voters that PVC collection must be done strictly in person, warning that collection by proxy is prohibited and constitutes an offense.
Babalola reiterated INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
She added that for further inquiries, members of the public should visit the nearest INEC Local Government office or contact the Osun State INEC office through its official communication channels.
