Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has opened up on the fallout of the high-profile G5 governors’ pact with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike ended up as the sole major beneficiary of the coalition.

Speaking during a media chat on Fresh FM, Makinde disclosed that the political arrangement failed to yield expected dividends for other members of the aggrieved governors’ group.

According to him, President Tinubu personally determined the vast majority of cabinet appointments, effectively leaving the rest of the alliance sidelined in the distribution of federal power.

Makinde pointed to his own home state as evidence of the one-sided bargain, recounting how his ministerial recommendation was completely bypassed.

Despite approaching the President to nominate Bimbo Adekanmbi for a cabinet role, he alleged that Tinubu disregarded his proposal and appointed Adebayo Adelabu instead.

The governor also noted that contrary to assumptions that the G5 group secured widespread influence under the current administration, the spoils of the alliance flowed almost exclusively to Wike.
