Ondo: CP gives 37 police families N25.5m insurance cheque

The Police Command in Ondo State says it has presented N25.577 million cheque to 37 police families in the state as beneficiaries of the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Akure by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, command’s Spokesperson.

The statement said the presentation was done by the  Commissioner of Police (CP), Felix Ohagwu, in line with the welfare vision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu,

According to the statement, the presentation is for improved welfare and support for police personnel and their families.

“The presentation, which took place at the command’s headquarters on Sept.15, followed the release of insurance claims from the national headquarters for onward distribution to the respective beneficiaries.

“The cheques, N25,577,512.60, covering claims under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident schemes, are intended to provide financial relief.

“It will also support the beneficiaries, particularly families of police personnel who lost their lives in the course of service.

“The CP appreciated the IGP for ensuring the release of the funds, described the gesture as a demonstration of commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of police personnel and their families.

“Ohagwu noted that the intervention is particularly significant at a time when many families are contending with economic challenges, stressing the financial support will go a long way in ameliorating the hardship being experienced in the country.

“He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious and responsible use of the funds and channel the financial benefits towards pressing family needs, education, investment and other productive ventures capable of providing sustainable support,” it read.

The statement also said the beneficiaries appreciated the CP and IGP for their efforts towards ensuring the release and presentation of the insurance benefits.

It said the beneficiaries described the gesture as timely and impactful, particularly in view of the prevailing economic realities, and prayed for continued success for the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
