The Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi Campaign Organisation has issued a formal clarification debunking a “manipulated” social media video that falsely suggested President Bola Ahmed Tinubu doubted the APC’s capacity in Osun State.
According to a statement, the viral 30-second clip took Dr. Ogunbiyi’s comments completely out of context.
The campaign clarified that Dr. Ogunbiyi was actually describing a failed attempt by Governor Ademola Adeleke to “smuggle” himself into the APC through the backdoor due to fears of losing his re-election bid.
The statement noted that former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and Osun APC leaders had met with President Tinubu to assure him of the party’s readiness to reclaim the state.
Following this, the President reportedly rejected Adeleke’s overtures and reaffirmed his “full and unreserved support” for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
The campaign further criticized the Adeleke administration for resorting to “desperate propaganda” to mask its own failures.
It alleged that despite receiving nearly ₦1 trillion in revenue over 40 months, the current government has overseen soaring school fees, reaching ₦1.5 million in some state universities, and spent over ₦90 billion on “wining and dining” while allocating only ₦7 billion to agriculture.
The organization maintained that the people of Osun have already resolved to vote for the APC on August 15, seeking a “more capable and prepared alternative” in AMBO.
