Ogun Assembly screens, confirms another Commissioner nominee

The Ogun State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the nomination of Mrs. Adenike Abosede Osoba Ademokun for appointment as a commissioner in the State Executive Council.

During the process leading to her confirmation at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the lawmakers enjoined the nominee to justify the confidence reposed in her by bringing her wealth of experience to bear in strengthening governance and public administration in the state.

The confirmation followed a request forwarded to the Assembly by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, seeking legislative approval for the appointment of Mrs. Osoba Ademokun as a commissioner.

The approval came after the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House.

The committee was chaired by the Speaker and its report was presented by Hon. Babatunde Tella, who noted that the lawmakers were satisfied with the nominee’s qualifications, experience, and performance during the screening.

Earlier, while responding to questions during the screening, Mrs. Ademokun stated that she would draw from her previous experience serving in different capacities within the state public service, including her most recent role as a commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission to support effective governance and improve service delivery in the state.

The motion for the adoption of the committee’s report was moved by Hon. Tella, seconded by Hon. Yusuf Amosun, and supported by all the lawmakers through a voice vote.

Following this, the House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, moved the motion to convert the report into a House resolution. This was seconded by Hon. Damilare Bello, leading to the confirmation of the nominee’s appointment.

Following the confirmation, the Speaker directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, to transmit the House resolution to the governor for further necessary action.
